Want to give your views to brands? Have you wondered where the statistics come from when they say they surveyed the nation?
Online surveys and survey apps on your phone are the way to earn money online easily and quickly. With the websites I’ve listed below it’s possible to earn £100’s a year, just by giving your opinion. Online surveys are different than market research these use online survey questionnaires and sometimes videos to ask your opinion. My online surveys in the UK guide will first go through the list of how to earn money online with surveys.

How online survey sites work
Brands need market research and the opinion of the public to keep learning about their target demographic. This helps companies to improve, revise or change a product before it gets to market. This is why they will pay you for your opinion !
You don’t need anything but your time for this side hustle. Create a folder on your phone of daily survey sites so you can earn daily! It IS possible to make money daily and earn daily from these survey sites. Each site can give a different format, some have a threshold, but I have also curated a list that you can download several of these apps and earn money within 24 hours! I use my survey site money as either a top up throughout the month or for Christmas savings.

There are two ways to take part and start earning cash
- Online surveys.
All you have to do is sign up, wait for survey alerts to land in your inbox, on the app, or notification then answer the questions. Survey sites let you accumulate points that convert to cash, gift cards or they pay real cash from the sign up. Polls are fun too – they’re quick and simple to earn money with.
It’s possible to make £100s a year just by doing surveys daily!
Do I need to pay tax on online survey income?
Survey earnings are technically self-employed income, as you are being paid for a service you provide, even though that ‘service’ is in the form of providing data for the survey company.
The trading allowance introduced from 6 April 2017 essentially means you no longer have to report the first £1,000 you earn from self-employment or selling goods ‘for profit’. Therefore, if you earn under £1000 – no.
If you’re earning over £1,000 from survey sites, you’ll need to declare it to HMRC, regardless of whether you’re self-employed or PAYE. You must do this by registering for Self Assessment, if not already registered, and filling in a tax return. If PAYE, HMRC says it can collect your tax bill through a change to your tax code, providing you meet specific criteria.
If you’re self-employed with total income over £1,000 you have to declare: “If an individual has combined gross income of more than £1,000 from their self-employment trades in a tax year, they must report this to HRMC.”
Survey sites: The DOs & DON’Ts
DON’T pay to join. Never pay to join a survey site.
DO set up a dedicated email address, and check it often so you don’t miss out. Use a dedicated email address or profile for your new found hobby. Survey sites can often send emails too with special exclusives so set up an email address specific for survey taking.
DON’T expect full time income overnight. It’s important to understand it’s easy, simple cash, not make you rich quick cash.
DO spend gift vouchers ASAP. If you have a choice, opt to get paid in cash. If you do get paid in gift vouchers, spend them within one year in case they expire. If the retailer goes bankrupt, it’ll likely void the cards. You could also lose them or forget them until after they expire.
DON’T store cash in survey accounts. They aren’t banks and aren’t protected if they decide to close down their app/website.. There’s no protection if one closes, taking your cash with it. Therefore, I would withdraw monthly if not weekly.
DON’T tell lies. Don’t fake your demographic for the survey as the site may think of them fraudulent answers and wipe the balance – or worse your account. Rare, but worth knowing. Likewise, don’t sign up with two different email addresses to double the income – sites kick people out for this.
DON’T worry too much about ‘screenouts’. Some survey companies you can answer several questions, then you don’t qualify. Fine if it’s only a few seconds, but frustrating if you’ve donated your time. The list of top survey sites below notes the worst offenders and remove them from future surveys.
